The inspiration for Words of Veterans stems from Sebby’s personal journey with his younger brother, Max, an Air Force Academy graduate and U.S. Air Force Veteran who sustained a traumatic brain injury during his military service. Witnessing his brother’s struggles and resilience, Sebby felt compelled to document Max’s story in a meaningful way. After completing questions from the Library of Congress’s Veterans History Project, Sebby reflected on the process and recognized the need for a more accessible and user-friendly platform to help Veterans preserve their memories.
The mission of Words of Veterans is simple yet profound: to help Veterans keep their stories alive for future generations. The platform offers an easy-to-use writing tool where Veterans can answer guided questions about their service, which are then formatted into a PDF and emailed at no cost. Responses can then be shared with loved ones or used as the foundation for a blog post or even a memoir. This service is available to all U.S. Veterans, their families, and anyone wishing to preserve a Veteran’s story, regardless of writing ability.
A standout feature of the Words of Veterans platform is its ability to transform these stories into personalized, print-on-demand hardcover books that highlight a U.S. Veteran’s military journey. Once a user answers the 50 Library of Congress Veterans History Project questions, they have the option to have their narratives professionally formatted and printed as a keepsake hardcover book. This service is available for a small fee of $99, which includes premium color, up to 350 pages, and free shipping within the USA.
Additionally, Words of Veterans offers a unique opportunity for U.S. Veterans to publish their stories on the Words of Veterans website. Through its Share Your Story AI feature, only accessible by registering for an account, U.S. Veterans can publish a 750- to 1,000-word blog post for $99 after answering all 50 questions. The AI-drafted blog is then edited, reviewed, and approved privately by the user via email before being published on the Words of Veterans blog. This ensures the authenticity and accuracy of each story. The ability to test the Words of Veterans’ patent-pending Share Your Story AI functionality is free but does not include the ability to edit, review, or publish your story.
