Service Women’s Action Network (SWAN) is a vital resource for servicewomen of the past, present, and future. With over 45,000 nonprofit organizations registered to support veterans, SWAN is the only national nonprofit dedicated solely to supporting women of the military and veteran communities. SWAN provides a comprehensive support system, including case management and a 24/7 Emergency Assistance Hotline. Beyond supportive services, SWAN advocates for policy changes that address the unique needs of women veterans. This includes legislative advocacy and public education campaigns to ensure women veterans have access to the resources and support they deserve.

Empowering Women Veterans Through Supportive Services

Case Management: A dedicated case manager works one-on-one with veterans or servicewomen to create personalized plans that address individual challenges and support their journey toward success.

24/7 Emergency Assistance Hotline: We recognize that sometimes veterans need immediate support. To address this need, our hotline provides 24/7 assistance to connect military and veteran women with essential resources. Trained staff can offer a listening ear, provide mental health referrals, and assist in emergencies.

Important Note: This hotline is not a replacement for 911 or the Veterans Crisis Line at 988.

The case manager and hotline can assist with a variety of issues, including:

  • Benefits/Claims: SWAN can help veterans navigate the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) claims process to ensure they receive the benefits they deserve.
  • Mental Health: SWAN recognizes the high prevalence of mental health challenges among veterans. We work with veterans to find the best mental health support that meets their needs.
  • Housing and Homelessness: Every veteran deserves a safe and stable home. SWAN advocates help veterans find housing options and provide support to prevent homelessness.

“Partnering with NVBDC’s MVO Task Force is a win-win for the SWAN network,” said Elisa Carndell, President and Chief Executive Officer of SWAN. “We have the opportunity to extend our impact as a vital resource for servicewomen and women veterans, and we also gain access to NVBDC’s robust roster of partners with which to explore future collaborations.”
