Starting and growing a business as a Veteran, service member, or military spouse comes with unique challenges. Recognizing this and noticing a gap in support for Veteran-owned companies, the Massachusetts Veterans Chamber of Commerce (MassVCC) was established to serve as a vital hub for military-connected entrepreneurs, offering support, education, and networking opportunities tailored to address the specific needs of the Massachusetts Veteran business community.

The Chamber’s mission is to create a nurturing environment where Veteran entrepreneurs can connect, exchange ideas, and support each other in their business ventures. State Director Anthony Manca emphasizes the importance of peer-to-peer exchanges, where Veterans can learn from each other’s experiences and avoid common pitfalls in the business world. “We are stronger learning from each other,” expressed Manca.

Manca also believes the Chamber’s ability to connect Veteran entrepreneurs with industry experts is crucial for fostering success. The Chamber works closely with other Veteran- and business-focused organizations, including the United States Veteran Chamber Coalition, National Veteran Business Development Council, Institute for Veterans and Military Families, Veteran Institute for Procurement, Small Business Association, and the Veteran Business Outreach Center, to assist and educate its members.

MassVCC members gain access to a variety of in-person and online programs designed to foster collaboration and connect them with the broader business community, including statewide Veteran-focused events, expos, classes, and networking symposiums. These partnerships and events are designed to help its members build the necessary skills and connections to thrive in a competitive business landscape.

One of the Chamber’s most notable events is its weekly Morning Mission: Coffee Hour. This virtual gathering takes place every Wednesday morning from 7-8 a.m. ET and brings together Veteran, service member, and military spouse entrepreneurs to share insights, ask questions, and forge meaningful connections. “These virtual meetings have assisted countless Veteran entrepreneurs in learning from others how to navigate situations that directly impact their businesses,” said Manca.

In addition to networking and educational programs, the MassVCC provides one-on-one support for its members. Members can access a variety of resources specifically tailored to their needs, including procurement risk assessments, assistance with creating or refining capability statements, and advice on topics as varied as social media marketing or navigating state employment laws. The Chamber is dedicated to helping all of its members enhance their business acumen, improve their networking pool, and develop the tools they need to succeed.

With a focus on building a supportive, educational, and empowering community, the MassVCC continues to serve as an invaluable resource for the Veteran business community in Massachusetts.
