USA Hockey has a special program called “Warriors” specifically for disabled veterans. This program, presented by Navy Veteran Beth Ball, allows disabled vets to come together in a fun setting and learn a new skill as well as meet other disabled vets. Previous skating or hockey experience is not necessary. The program has been around for a few years but has not been geared toward women. This is changing. I was the first female Warrior back in 2017 with the Alaska Warriors program. I have been working over the last 2 years to bring together the women who have started to join the various Warrior teams around the nation. Our goal is to have an all-female Warrior team compete at our annual USA Disabled Hockey Festival. I would love to use this webinar to get the word out about the program and put interested women in touch with their local teams.
Bio: I’m a Navy vet working in Cybersecurity for the last 20 years. I’m a mom of 6 beautiful kids and nana to 1 grandson. For fun, I like to play hockey. I’m a goalie as well as a goalie mom. I was introduced to the game through the Warriors program and now advocate for more women to join. I hope to also bring a second Warrior team to Georgia in the Atlanta area.
