Delegation is hard. I would not need to write about it if it was not. I was delivering a keynote on leadership recently and during the question and answer period there was a moment when the crowd fell silent. This is not unusual. It is hard to muster the courage to speak up in a crowd. Prepared as I always am, I offered my delegation wisdom to the group. What I realized after the interaction was that I need to weave delegation into my leadership keynotes and not save it for the Q and A. It’s a real problem leaders face, and it is a topic worthy of repeating. Even as experienced as I am, I still find it hard to delegate.
