During this Month of the Military Child, we want to draw your attention to some of the unique subsets of the military child population. As we bring forward the voices and needs of military children, there are often groups of children missing from the conversation. We aim to change that and invite you to our panel discussion as we explore how the community can support children with exceptional needs, those coping with divorce and separation from the military, LGBTQIA+ children and children who have a parent/guardian serving in a training Command.

Join us to learn about:

The Exceptional Military Families Program (EFMP) serves special education students, and what is needed to truly support families advocating for the best interest of their child.

How parental separation impacts children in military-connected families and families with co-located parents.

The additional challenges LGBTQIA+ children in military families face and how everyone can help support this population.

Supporting children with parents in arduous or demanding command assignments.

Panelists include:

Meagan Consedine – Partners in Promise

Shaina Purser – PsychArmor

Catherine Berdy – Modern Military Association

Chief Shawn Deason – with Recruit Training Command
