“Attitudes & Attire” Nonprofit Founder & Executive Director Lyn Berman from the young age of nine, knew she wanted to change the world for women. In 1996, Lyn founded the nonprofit organization Attitudes & Attire® to carry out her dream. Now, 27 years later, Attitudes & Attire® has served over 27,000 women.
By helping women rediscover their value and self-worth, Lyn and her staff plant the seeds for personal growth, offering hope and a new direction toward self-sufficiency. Although backgrounds are diverse, the women who come to Attitudes & Attire® share a life of adversity (financially, emotionally or physically), but they leave with one common goal – to create a better life for themselves and their families by becoming self-sufficient. The core program at Attitudes & Attire® consists of three workshops focusing on self-esteem, self-compassion, communication skills, goal setting, interview preparation and work ethic. The agency also provides work-appropriate outfits from its boutique which is stocked primarily with donations. In addition to the core program, Hopeful Smiles™, a dental program, was added in 2006. Developed in 2012, Boots to Heels® is a confidence building and self-esteem workshop for women who have served in the military community. In 2019, as an extension of the core program, we developed a Spanish-speaking program for women to express themselves in their native language.
The same passion that helped Lyn found Attitudes & Attire® keeps it strong today.
