One for their horses that serves the Veterans in their non-profit, “Operation Wild Horse” and is a lead horse in their mounted color guard had injured her leg and needed a surgery.

It’s Not how they wanted to start off 2023 with a large veterinary bill…But unfortunately, on Christmas morning, Shrimp cut the back of her heel bulb badly and has required a significant amount of veterinary care since.

Our WONDERFUL veterinarians at Northern Lakes Equine Practice stitched her back together on Christmas but the stitches wouldn’t hold even with a tight wrap.

Last week Shrimp was restitched and a cast was put on to cover the area so it is immobile which should allow the stitches to stay in and do their job.

The current estimate is $3000 for the total bill for this injury. Shrimp is such an important part of our program as part of our Mounted Color Guard, she does riding lessons as well as groundwork and trick lessons.

Please help us cover Shrimps bill.

You can donate directly to Northern Lakes Equine Practice letting them know the payment should be credited to 22Vets/Operation Wild Horse account. https://northernlakesequine.com/ or us this Donation Link: https://www.facebook.com/donate/1759532181084578/

Operation Wild Horse is a program of our 501c3 Veterans R&R.  We partner with the Bureau of Land Management to rescue these Mustangs and they work with our Veterans in what we call “Equine Therapy”.  We were recently featured in a Robert Redford produced documentary called “The Mustangs: America’s Wild Horses”  You can watch the short clip of our program here.
